Spectrometers

Giant offers three platforms of optical spectrometers

Each spectrometer offers its own distinct advantages to cover a wide range of requirements and budgets. Please check the instrument descriptions below for more details.

SPECTRO 320 - Universal Spectrometer

Our flagship, fast scanning spectrometer is for the most demanding applications including precise spectroradiometry with calibrated optical probes, spectrophotometry for measuring transmission/reflection, and as a spectrum analyzer for general optical spectroscopy. Both single and double monochromator versions are available in a compact and robust enclosure. Using up to three detectors and three gratings, a wide wavelength range from 190 to 5000 nm is possible in one instrument. The SPECTRO 320 offers an industry leading combination of dynamic range, speed, portability, and high overall accuracy.

A "box to measure light": you can connect accessories for specific applications using fiber-optic cables... a truly flexible and highly accurate system.

CAS 140B Compact-Array Spectrometer

With the second generation of this versatile instrument you have the option of either the inherent stability of a diode array detector (silicon and InGaAs) or the increased sensitivity of a back-thinned CCD detector. The CAS 140B offers a new perspective in production testing, quality control and research with a spectral resolution in the range from 1.5 to 6 nm depending on the selected slit and model. Very fast measurements at high sensitivity are achieved using cooled detectors.

More Details
Minimal measuring times of 20 ms and a spectral range from 190-1050 nm (different models) give the CAS 140B a distinct advantage in R&D of pulsed sources and production control of LEDs and displays.

MAS 40 - Mini-Array-Spectrometer

The MAS 40 opens up the entire world of spectroradiometry, spectrophotometry, color analysis, and general light measurement for a limited budget. It is an excellent tool, particularly in quality assurance and production control, if you do not need high spectral resolution. Giant, using the appropriate accessories, offers complete turnkey measurement stations for such applications as LED analysis (see also: LED-Station), diffuse and specular transmission/reflection measurements, and spectroradiometric analysis of light sources.

More Details

The MAS 40 is ideal for general photometric and colorimetric measurements when your budget is limited.

Imaging Photometer and Colorimeter

LumiCam 1300

Giant has offered the LumiCam 1300 luminance and colorimetry camera to meet the sophisticated needs of manufacturers and OEM customers in taking measurements at displays, LED indicator lamps, and multifunction information displays. The high-resolution CCD image sensor allows complex luminance distributions to be measured within seconds. Typical application of the LumiCam 1300 is in the automotive and aerospace industry.
NEW:
Now available with FireWire Interface for mobile applications.

More Details
Each of the 1280x1000 detector pixels is assigned a calibrated luminance or colorimetry value. The total of these measuring points provides a two-dimensional image that can be used for further evaluation.

LED-Test Systems

LED-Station - Turnkey System for LED Testing

The MAS 40 Mini-Array Spectrometer forms the core of the LED Station. The MAS 40 is mounted on a stable base plate and the ILEDB luminous intensity adapter or the ISP75 integrating sphere is attached directly to the MAS 40 input port. The Mini-Goniophotometer has its own base plate and the MAS 40 is mounted on this plate when measuring the spatial radiation pattern.

The DTS 320 Display Test System permits the flexible and precise measurement of any type of display. This system comprises an enhanced SPECTRO 320 spectroradiometer and the TOP 100 Telescope Optical Probe connected by a fiber-optic cable.

Instruments For Polarization Analysis

RPA 2000 - Polarization Analyzer

Instrument Systems was the first research and manufacturing company to launch a commercial polarization analyzer. The RPA 2000, now a second generation instrument, allows you to plug in and measure every polarization parameter of either free-space or fiber-guided radiation. Measurement results are presented as an ellipse diagram or using the Poincaré sphere. IS-Polar software controls the RPA2000 and displays the measured parameters in a variety of ways. Also controllable with ASCII commands, you can retrieve the Stokes parameters directly from the instrument using your own code.

More Details

The removable measuring head in the RPA 2000 permits extremely flexible configurations. Different measuring heads permit analysis of spectral ranges from 190-1700 nm or 8-12 µm.

PCT 2000 - Polarization Component Tester

This turn-key system is based on the RPA 2000 polarization analyzer and the PCT 2000 polarization controller. Various sample stages are available including an automated XY positioning system and a goniometric sample stage. The PCT 2000 is used for measuring stress birefringence, phase retardation at waveplates, and for determining the Jones/Müller matrix of optical components and systems.
More Details
The PCT 2000 can measure stress birefringence of optical glass with the highest accuracy currently available.

UV320 - UV-B Monitoring

The UV-B monitoring system from Instrument Systems uses the double monochromator version of the SPECTRO 320 D.

With both gratings and the high precision digital angle encoder all on the same turret, the SPECTRO 320 D is capable of an unrivalled combination of speed, sensitivity, and dynamic range. For example, at a data point interval of 0.2 nm and a bandpass of 1 nm the scan can be accomplished at the rate of 50 msec/nm! This helps to minimize the chance that the measurement is compromised by dynamic ambient conditions such as cloud cover when measuring solar-irradiance. With the high-resolution option, the absolute wavelength accuracy is +/- 0.03 nm. The dynamic range available in a single scan is 7 decades and sensitivity is 10-6 W/m² nm.
More Details
The UV320 is the fastest double monochromator based spectroradiometer on the market. Meteorologists can now make accurate measurements of small-scale temporal fluctuations in UV-B solar radiation.
